Little Jack

Will your life burn bright like a shooting star

Will you wonder how you went so fast, so far

Will you grow in Jesus, growin’ in you

Know your father’s Father too?

Do you hear the promise made today

The promise of the covenant

We might stumble – we might fall

Then He’ll lead you to himself.

He leadeth me, O blessed thought!

O words with heavenly comfort fraught!

Whate’er I do, where’er I be,

still ‘tis God’s hand that leadeth me.

May you grow up happy – grow up strong

When neither’s working; nothing’s wrong

Where you walk or where you run

His hand has power to save

You might bump your head against the curse

You can shake it off with the Holy Ghost

As long as God below is the God above

Our hope will never sway

Sometimes mid scenes of deepest gloom,

sometimes where Eden’s flowers bloom;

by waters still, o’er troubled sea,

still ‘tis God’s hand that leadeth me.

So when you’ve run your course and your days are done

If they’ve been many, or they’ve been some

When you walk through the valley of the end of them

Fear no evil there

You see the promise doesn’t stem from you

The promise that’ll pull you through

Is God’s to offer and God’s to keep

It’s yours to own today!

And when my task on earth is done,

when, by thy grace, the victory’s won,

e’en death’s cold wave I will not flee,

since God through Jordan leadeth me.

All:

He leadeth me, he leadeth me,

by his own hand he leadeth me,

his faithful follower I would be,

for by his hand he leadeth me. (2x)

God be with you on your special day

God hold us all to what we’ve said

We’ll hold God to his promises

He’ll guide you to himself.
