Retreats and Camps

Along with being an accomplished musician, Jack has worked with young people and adults in informal and formal retreat and camp settings.

As a teenager himself, Jack volunteered and then worked at a number of camps around the Midwest. Then, as a college student, he worked at Fowler Camp and Retreat Center as a trail guide and a chaplain and also at Riverwood's Christian Center in St. Charles, Illinois, as a counselor for young people living in housing projects west of Chicago in Aurora and Elgin, Illinois. Jack developed skills to host retreats and work with young people informally and in small-group settings, making him an excellent speaker/performer for camps and retreat centers.

Jack has also run wilderness retreats for students and adults alike. While a chaplain at LaSalle School for Boys in Albany, New York, Jack created outdoor retreats for court-adjudicated teenage boys, integrating meditation, prayer, and reflection with hiking and canoeing. He used those same techniques while working at Community Reformed Church of Colonie where he led retreats focused on helping people discover and use their spiritual gifts.

As a retreat leader, Jack has worked with a variety of people. And as a camp counselor and speaker, Jack has spread the message of God's love through his music and his message.
